We are honored to chair the 6th Annual North Carolina Education Ball.
As parents of four children, we have been increasingly interested on a
personal level and aware of how our educators and classrooms shape
the future of every child in North Carolina.
Each year this prestigious statewide event draws top elected officials, educators and business leaders to our capital city to celebrate public education in North Carolina, as well as enjoy an original concert featuring Broadway and film veterans joined by top student talent from across our great state.
The 2008 North Carolina Education Ball will be held in Raleigh on June 7, 2008 at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Besides the showcased talent, the evening includes live and silent auctions and the presentation of The H. Glenn Williams Power of One Awards as well as The Graeme M. Keith Student Leadership Award. It is an outstanding night that you don’t want to miss!
Proceeds from the event benefit Communities In Schools (CIS) of North Carolina. Nationally, CIS is the #1 community-based dropout prevention program in the United States, and was ranked by Worth magazine as “One of the Top 100 Charities that will save the World” for two consecutive years.
In North Carolina, CIS touches more than 100,000 young people through the work of forty local CIS affiliates in communities throughout the state. Their services to at-risk children and youth include the development of tutoring and mentoring programs, health and dental screenings, job shadowing and internships, service learning and other opportunities to give back to the community just to mention a few. In the past two years, CIS has helped to create small high schools that are already successfully graduating students for whom large-scale, traditional high schools were not meeting their needs. The CIS programs are helping to strengthen the fundamental skills of these students in countless ways while also bringing positive relationships and encouragement into the lives of the students. As a result, while CIS students are usually those at the highest risk of dropping out, once part of the CIS family, 98% stay in school.
We would like to ask you to join us in this effort by becoming a sponsor of the 2008 NC Education Ball. Your donation will make a difference for thousands of under-served students across our state that need the help of Communities In Schools.
Warm Regards,
Ryan and Shawntel Wuerch
